What clients say about me

  • Michelle found a way to materialize my vague dreams of turning a poorly designed house, originally built in 1950, a little box of 800 square feet, into a delightful, cozy yet spacious, light-filled and sustainably built home with an addition of less than 400 square feet.

I had quite a bit of experience designing, building, and remodeling while my partner had none. Michelle worked successfully with both if us, answering our individual needs for questions and understanding of the process. She also taught me new ways of looking at the real environmental costs of some so called “green” materials, helped us weigh the pros and cons, directed us to sources for materials and produced results that were conscientious, comfortable to live with and cost effective. From the initial layout and foundation considerations right down to the paint colors and light fixtures, Michelle helped us navigate the decision-making that can overwhelm a remodeling project. She also connected us to an ideal contractor who we worked very well with during the changes we made. Our entire experience with Michelle was positive.

  • My first project with Michelle Quesada was in 1990. She designed a new kitchen for my beautiful Wallingford bungalow. That kitchen feels so timeless and somehow current so that even to this day people still ask if it was a recent remodel! We have loved living in her design all of these years. She is such a joy to work with. Her personal sense of grace, style and intelligence are all quite evident in her design work. She can be as classic or as whimsical as you would like her to be and many of her projects are a happy blend. She is so up-to-the minute on Green designs and Green ideas and had really innovative ideas that included environmentally friendly elements even 20 years ago when I first began working with her. Michelle always has a great answer or a solution for my endless stream of practical questions relating to house and home. I say endless because I have since hired her to redesign 2 bathrooms, a complete basement, including mother-in-law apt and a large and sunny deck. I would recommend her in a heartbeat.

  • I just want to say that Michelle is my first choice for an architect.  I recently retired from 20 years as a remodeling contractor. Michelle was the architect on several of my jobs.  Her designs truly reflect what the customer stated on their wish list.

One of the last jobs I did was adding 9 feet on the back of my three story home on Capitol Hill. We had Michelle do the design and consult on the decorating. My wife and I are totally pleased.
